General Community Manager

Rudgate Manor (RUM)

We are looking for a General Manager who has just the right balance of management and sales skills and a real knack for great customer service. You will oversee and direct the day-to-day property management operations for one of our manufactured housing communities. You will have some sales and marketing duties to maximize residential occupancy. As a General Managers, you'll be responsible for the operational and the continued profitability of a premier Sun community. You are ultimately responsible for administrative activities, marketing, leasing and sales of new and pre-owned homes, property maintenance, budgeting, human resource management and, most importantly resident relations.


  1. Ensure residents receive the highest levels of service consistent with Sun's Customer Service philosophy.
  2. Handle and resolve escalated resident inquiries.
  3. Work with marketing team to increase occupancy and to further promote the Sun Communities brand.
  4. Oversee team member selection, training, scheduling and development and ensure all team members comply with appropriate policies and procedures.
  5. Work closely with RVP to plan and manage capital expenditure initiatives, marketing strategies, and drive revenues while maintaining high levels of resident satisfaction.
  6. Enforce resort rules and regulations.
  7. Monitor monthly operating budgets and prepares monthly explanation of P&L variances.
  8. Assist RVP with preparation of annual operating budget.
  9. Ensure compliance with the federal, state and local agencies that regulate fair housing laws and resort operations.
  10. Market models, pre-owned, and brokered homes for sale in the resort as well as prepare documents to list and sell homes.
  11. Oversee capital expenditure improvements.


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate management, hospitality, or other related field
  • Minimum of 6 years property management experience including at least 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Previous regional management experience in property management industry, preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in meeting or exceeding sales goals; sales and leasing experience required
  • Willingness and ability to communicate effectively with guests, residents, and internal contacts
  • General knowledge of property maintenance
  • Solid negotiation skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws pertaining to fair housing and employment law
  • Basic computer proficiency including email, internet and Microsoft Office Suite; experience using Yardi and/or Vestivo, preferred
  • Flexibility to respond to community needs during non-business hours
  • Ability to live on-site within the community (housing provided)
