Vice President, Strategic Sourcing

Position Summary

 

The VP of Strategic Sourcing leads strategic sourcing and ongoing program management activities for 400+ locations across Suns enterprise. This individual has expert knowledge of and demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing efforts, conducting complex analyses, and the ability to create and enhance strategic vendor partnerships. As a leader on Suns Innovation Team, this individual leads, facilitates, assembles and manages cross functional teams to drive company-wide initiatives, achieve cost savings, improve internal and external customer satisfaction, and drive ongoing savings and efficiencies for high-value processes and relationships. The ideal candidate is viewed as an expert negotiator and posses the ability to conduct detailed and reliable financial projections and ROI analysis.

 

Duties

  1. Develop and enhance strategic vendor partnerships, including supplier selection, evaluation, development, and rationalization/consolidation strategies.
  2. Identify and manage expense saving ideas and prioritization based on a framework of ease of implementation and level of impact.
  3. Drive consistency and transparency in expense management practices across all levels of Sun's portfolio.
  4. Partner with operations teams to identify appropriate vendor solutions and re-negotiate vendor contracts, where appropriate.
  5. Research and recommend implementation of industry best practices.
  6. Collaborate with other Innovation Team members and operations teams to identify KPIs, create performance dashboards, and monitor the ongoing progress of cost-saving initiatives.
  7. Work in close partnership with operations leadership to ensure compliance and accountability with enterprise-wide programs and vendor partnerships.
  8. Promote a strong expense management culture throughout the organization to ensure buy-in across all teams.
  9. Identify and implement strategic programs to further the company's ESG-related efforts.
  10. Coordinates team member selection and development and ensures team members comply with appropriate policies and procedures.
  11. Adheres to Suns Timekeeping Policy by reviewing, verifying accuracy, approving and submitting direct report(s) time recorded.
  12. Partners with Team Relations on team member counseling and recommendation of termination when appropriate.
  13. Conducts team member performance reviews and recommends compensation adjustments.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, operations, or management (Required)
  • Master's Degree (Preferred)
  • 10+ years progressive experience as an operations manager or management consultant
  • 3+ years leadership experience in a medium to large, diverse organization in a strategic operations role
  • Demonstrated success in leadership, cost reduction, and program management
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external individuals/organizations
  • Extensive prior experience in developing cost control protocols for multiple site operations
  • Ability to influence others and hold people accountable
  • Ability to successfully lead others to live Sun’s culture and produce quality results
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills with knowledge of tactical and strategic purchasing
  • Understanding of supplier partnerships and contracts
  • Ability to travel by car or plane with overnight stays as required, 5-10%
  • Advanced computer proficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Ability to analyze financial data from various sources both internally and externally and create meaningful reports, spreadsheets, and graphs for use by management
  • Work attitude that exhibits drive, assertiveness, judgment, decision making, dependability, and ambition
  • Must possess excellent organization, management, analytical and negotiation skills
