Utilities Project & Compliance Coordinator

As a Utilities Project & Compliance Coordinator you'll assist the Utilities & Infrastructure Manager in ensuring that community infrastructure, water and wastewater utilities are operating correctly, efficiently and in compliance with regulatory requirements. You'll focus on regulatory compliance, reporting, internal and external inspections and localized training as a key part in effectively handling Sun's utilities systems.

This position will office out of the Orlando, FL or Southwest, FL areas.

JOB DUTIES

  1. Ensure community utilities, specifically water and wastewater facilities, and infrastructure are operating correctly, efficiently and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Work with Community Managers, RVPs and DVPs to address infrastructure and construction related issues and develop solutions for correction of issues.
  3. Oversee operational, capital and expansion projects from development to final signoff as determined by the Utilities & Infrastructure Manager.
  4. Work with operations to ensure budgeted capex is completed and any related capex items that arise throughout the year are addressed.
  5. Work with Utilities & Infrastructure Manager to ensure permitting, renewals, testing, inspections and necessary capex are on track to keep water treatment facility and waste water treatment facility operating efficiently and in compliance.
  6. Review and analyze contract proposals; select qualified contractors to complete capital improvement within the budgeted amount and monitor work progress for timely completion.
  7. Complete semi-annual water treatment plant inspections (WTP/WWTP) and generate reports on deficiencies; work with operations to correct any deficiencies/deviances.
  8. Work with operations to confirm all deficiency notices and inspections are completed.
  9. Train operations on standard operating procedures; conduct on-site or attend meetings to address.
  10. Monitor utility plants and construction sites; work with third party operators to ensure water and sewer plants are operating correctly and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  11. Solve problems that arise during construction by communicating issues to appropriate staff and providing solutions.
  12. Report unresolved non-compliance issues relative to utilities, construction projects and maintenance activities directly to Community Managers and RVPs.
  13. Empower Community Managers, RVPs and DVPs to identify and remedy regulatory issues.
  14. Maintain inspections log including photographs and documented findings.
  15. Complete required reporting including: conditional use permits (CUPs), preliminary safety reports (PSRs), and consumer confidence reports (CCRs) for review by Utilities & Infrastructure Manager.
  16. Work with operations to review and resolve ground depressions.
  17. Inspect and monitor construction and utility projects to ensure progress in accordance with plans, specifications and regulatory requirements.
  18. Communicate with engineers and contractors, and negotiate amount of additional expenses that may occur throughout the completion of a capital improvement project.
  19. Represent Sun at compliance meetings with regulatory agencies as needed.
  20. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 years of job related experience in construction and/or utilities management
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with both field leadership and senior leadership
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to read and understand construction drawings
  • Ability to travel by car as required in Florida: 75%
