Treasury Accountant

Do you love working with numbers? Our Finance team is looking for a Treasury Accountant to maximize the return from Sun and related affiliates cash flow.

OVERVIEW

As a Treasury Accountant, you'll be responsible for creating, implementing and maintaining various systems while adhering to certain tax or mortgage-related restrictions. You'll update all cash management financial information to the GL and will be accountable for certain financial areas of specialization to support the integrity of the consolidated financial statements (prepaid insurance, accrued liabilities and deposits).

JOB DUTIES

  1. Review daily cash position for all accounts, recommend and execute cash transfers, determine line of credit borrowing (repayments) and evaluate with existing interest rates.  Post daily activity to the appropriate general ledger account.
  2. Maintain current documented written procedures to ensure adequate support during scheduled absences.
  3. Manage bank relationships for over 200 local and several consolidated bank accounts and manage the relationship with the line of credit administrator.
  4. Maintain a sufficient amount of banking supplies, open/close bank accounts, coordinate incoming/outgoing wires including debt payments, and resolve banking errors and/or issues.
  5. Take an active lead in researching and staying current on bank account structures, investment opportunities, line of credit borrowing programs and other options.
  6. Meet with primary banks, analyze alternatives and recommend strategies based on typical cash flow activity.  Identify areas to minimize bank fees or negotiate fees to Sun’s advantage.
  7. Identify and recommend methods to Sun and its affiliates to integrate credit cards and wire transfers into its business to provide a wider variety of services.  Take a leadership role in implementing these services by coordinating with Operations, Accounting, and other team members.
  8. Update a one to two month cash flow forecast on a weekly basis.
  9. Collaborate with the VP of Financial Technology to develop the most efficient cash disbursement procedures, maximizing discounts and taking advantage of payment terms.
  10. Reconcile miscellaneous balance sheet accounts including parent company accrued liabilities and acquisition deposits; follow-up on outstanding issues.
  11. Process and/or support various payment methods including AR ACH payments and credit card processing.
  12. Other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Minimum of 1-2 years cash management responsibilities
  • Minimum of 1 year general ledger responsibilities
  • Creative, logical and demonstrates initiative to research new cash management strategies
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships without forfeiting profitability
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel
