Overview

The Marketing Writer develops compelling content for a variety of digital and print channels that supports brand awareness, engagement, and business objectives. This role collaborates with marketing and business partners to create clear, effective messaging, maintain consistency with brand standards, and ensure marketing materials are accurate, high-quality, and aligned with organizational goals.

Job Duties

  • Develops and maintains brand narratives, messaging frameworks, and storytelling content that support the Sun Communities and Sun Outdoors brands and enhance audience engagement. (Essential)
  • Writes clear, original, and persuasive content across digital, print, and internal channels, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines, brand tone, and AP style. (Essential)
  • Creates and optimizes content for both traditional search engines and AI-powered search experiences by incorporating search engine optimization (SEO), generative engine optimization (GEO), structured content, and audience-focused messaging. (Essential)
  • Writes user experience (UX) content, including navigation, calls to action (CTA), forms, booking and leasing workflows, error messages, and confirmation messaging to support customer engagement and conversion objectives.
  • Collaborates with Brand & Creative, Digital Marketing, MarTech, Marketing Business Partners, and other stakeholders to align content strategy with editorial and marketing calendars.
  • Conducts research and interviews with residents, guests, team members, vendors, and other stakeholders to obtain information for content development and storytelling initiatives.
  • Assists in coordinating content development efforts across multiple projects and marketing initiatives while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Provides content direction, feedback, and editorial guidance to freelance writers, agencies, and external content contributors to ensure consistency with brand standards.
  • Utilizes AI-powered writing, research, and content optimization tools to support content creation while applying sound editorial judgment, factchecking, and quality standards.
  • Analyzes content performance metrics, including search visibility, engagement, and conversion data, and uses insights to recommend and implement content improvements.
  • Develops and maintains marketing content within internal communication platforms, content management systems, and other designated channels.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Advertising, English, or related field (Required)
  • 5 years in experience in professional writing, content marketing, copywriting, journalism, or related field (Required)
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Strong writing and copywriting skills with the ability to create clear, compelling content across digital and print channels
  • Demonstrated storytelling and conversion-focused copywriting abilities, supported by a portfolio showcasing a variety of content formats and audiences
  • Knowledge of SEO and GEO best practices, including how content earns visibility and citations in generative and answer-based search experiences
  • Ability to write UX and product copy, including microcopy, calls to action, and conversion-focused user journeys in partnership with design and digital teams
  • Exceptional grammar, editing, and proofreading skills, with advanced knowledge of AP style and brand voice development
  • Proficiency in using AI writing and research tools while maintaining strong editorial judgment, accuracy, quality, and brand consistency
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholder priorities in a fast-paced, multi-brand environment
  • Strong interpersonal, interviewing, and communication skills with the ability to translate insights into audience-focused content
  • Experience creating content strategies that support customer engagement, brand awareness, and business objectives
  • Knowledge of distributed, multi-unit, or portfolio-based businesses, including real estate, hospitality, travel, or similar industries preferred
