OVERVIEW

The Manager, Systems Administration is responsible for overseeing Sun Communities system operations of the enterprise through management of the organizations system administrators. They provide guidance when analyzing and evaluating system functionality, and manage operation systems such as servers, appliances & data centers. They direct the planning & implementation of enterprise IT system initiatives and facilitates the daily maintenance of the IT system operation, while engaging with peers and leaders throughout the company to ensure the corporate operations are maintained through collaborative cooperation.

JOB DUTIES

  • Manages & participates in the design and ongoing support of Suns systems & data centers.
  • Acts as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) on systems, operations & best practices from a server and data center perspective.
  • Oversees the deployment, integration & initial configuration of all new system solutions and enhancements to existing solutions in accordance with best operating procedures.
  • Manages the administration & patches of all computer systems and their corresponding or associated software including server, storage, appliance and all other associated systems.
  • Coordinates team member selection and development and ensures team members comply with appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Partners with Team Relations on team member counseling and recommendation of termination when appropriate.
  • Conducts team member performance reviews and recommends compensation adjustments.
  • Ensures the enforcement of enterprise security standards with respect to operations, systems, information and access.
  • Engages in ongoing communication with peers in IT and various business groups to ensure enterprise-wide understanding of system goals, solicits feedback, and fosters cooperation.
  • Works closely with the IT department on corporate technology development to fully optimize the communication of information and allow for information processing.
  • Provides resolutions to IT system problems in a cost-effective manner.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge and documentation of IT systems including awareness of new or revised solutions, improved processes, and development of new technologies for improved performance.
  • Understands contracts related to system technologies, expirations, and when to start the renewal process or provide an alternative solution.
  • Develops metrics for the IT department and opportunities for improvement.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field (Required)
  • 8 years Information Technology experience
  • 3 years experience managing a team or department
  • 4 years experience in system administration and engineering in a large or enterprise IT environment
  • 6 months prior experience planning, organizing, and developing IT systems and technologies
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) - Cloud Platform and Infrastructure
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) - Productivity
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrators (MCSAs)
  • Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD)
  • ITIL Certification
  • ISACA Certification
  • MS Azure Experience
  • AWS Experience
  • Advanced knowledge of server, storage, client/server & database systems, including server, racks, storage, appliance and monitoring tools
  • Knowledge of technology development methodologies, testing processes, technical relationships, data security, and compliance standards (i.e. Sarbanes-Oxley, ISO 27001.)
  • Strong understanding of project management principles
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Visio
