OVERVIEW

The Manager, SEC Reporting supervises the Financial Reporting team in support of internal and external reporting processes, including the Companys external filings with the SEC (10-Qs, 10-Ks, Proxy Statements, and 8-Ks). This position plays a key role in leading a team of direct reports and provides support to the Director of Financial Reporting in various accounting and reporting processes, ultimately supporting the Corporate Controller and other senior finance leaders. The Financial Reporting team is responsible for various internal and external management reports, filings with the SEC, month-end close processes, stock-based compensation and equity transactions. The Manager, SEC Reporting also assists with researching technical accounting issues by reviewing documentation issued by the FASB, SEC, and other authoritative bodies to assess disclosure implications for the Companys external financial reports.

JOB DUTIES

  • Coordinates team member selection and development and ensures team members comply with appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to Suns Timekeeping Policy by reviewing, verifying accuracy, approving and submitting direct report(s) time recorded.
  • Partners with Team Relations on team member counseling and recommendation of termination when appropriate.
  • Conducts team member performance reviews and recommends compensation adjustments.
  • Leads the Financial Reporting team in the preparation and timely submission of required SEC filings and supplemental reporting/earnings press releases.
  • Reviews the Companys monthly consolidated financial statements prepared by the Financial Reporting team (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Stockholders Equity, etc.)
  • Reviews accounting journal entries and assigned balance sheet account reconciliations, as well as supporting workpapers for the external audit.
  • Ensures compliance with various reporting and filing requirements.
  • Researches accounting regulations and SEC disclosure requirements; provides technical accounting consultation regarding US GAAP pronouncements and practical implementation thereof.
  • Leads the team in the oversight of the accounting for stock-based compensation programs and equity transactions (restricted stock awards, deferred compensation, dividend payments, equity issuances and conversions).
  • Takes an active lead in coordinating accounting matters with other departments and identifying procedures to accommodate new business initiatives.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (Required)
  • 5 years experience preparing and reviewing SEC filings & consolidated financial statements
  • 2 years real estate experience at a Real Estate Investment Trust
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Prior experience working with Workiva software (preferred)
  • Prior experience working in public accounting (preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment; strong ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and apply complex accounting principles
