Manager, Project Management
OVERVIEW
The Manager, Project Management is responsible for establishing and maintaining Suns enterprise project management standards, tools and methodologies, including oversight of the project management life cycle and gate reviews. They monitor project scopes, costs, schedules, staffing, communications, outside vendors, and contractual deliverables. The Manager, Project Management assigns and prioritizes project management resources and regularly assesses project quality and efficiency. They mentor and direct the work of project managers on project planning, stakeholder engagement, communication, adherence to scope and timelines, and promoting reporting transparency.
JOB DUTIES
- Assesses and regularly refines Suns enterprise project management standards, templates, methodologies and tools
- Leads collaborative efforts to identify, document and share project management best practices
- Creates and maintains transparent project reporting and resource utilization tracking
- Ensures project documentation including proposals, meeting minutes, decisions, change requests, action items and status updates are clear and concise
- Coordinates team member selection and development and ensures team members comply with appropriate policies and procedures.
- Partners with Team Relations on team member counseling and recommendation of termination when appropriate.
- Conducts team member performance reviews and recommends compensation adjustments.
- Works collaboratively with cross functional teams to develop standards, processes, and tools used for effective project scheduling and to set and manage quality targets
- Addresses and resolves issues and conflicts within and across projects, including vendor issues that may impede project delivery
- Establishes and maintains project initiation, execution, governance and communication standards
- Establishes and tracks key project performance metrics to promote accountability
- Assigns project management resources and prioritizes efforts, ensuring efficient utilization
- Ensures that necessary functional and technical stakeholders are identified and included on project teams
- Ensures that appropriate communication to team members, management, sponsors, and stakeholders occurs throughout the project lifecycle
- Develops project managers ability to identify risks to project quality and timelines and tactfully push back on stakeholders when appropriate
- Provides additional support and assistance as required to keep projects in adherence with timelines
- Establishes and promotes a condensed, practical set of project management standards for utilization in non-enterprise projects
- Assists Innovation Team leadership in maintaining Suns enterprise project roadmap and prioritizing potential future projects
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in in Project Management, Information Systems, or related field (Required)
- 1 year experience implementing enterprise ERP solutions
- 10+ years experience managing complex, cross functional projects in a high stakes environment
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with functional and technical audiences
- Ability to comprehend and anticipate changes in business and resulting needs
- Ability to lead change through influence and navigate conflicts by providing practical alternate options
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with and advise senior leadership
- Ability to manage multiple large, complex projects concurrently
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills
