OVERVIEW

The Development CapEx Analyst will analyze development spend against budgets and forecasts and assist with variance reports for senior management. This individual is responsible for processing invoices and PayApps related to development CapEx projects, and will work stakeholders on the construction team as well as 3rd party vendors to ensure the invoices are processed correctly and within budget.

JOB DUTIES

  • Analyzes and processes invoices and PayApps related to development and acquisition projects including coding of all payments in accounting system.
  • Assist with vendor set-ups and vendor changes as needed.
  • Performs complex, multi-entity tasks that involve research and reconciliation of accounting data.
  • Managing and coordinating issues and/or questions related to the monthly financial operating results and providing analyses of actual vs. budget variances.
  • Preparing and processing wire transfers and ACH payments as needed.
  • Reviewing and analyzing financial results related to development capital improvement projects.
  • Verifying accuracy of transactions related to development capital improvement projects; submitting recommendations to construction and Sun Accounting related to adjusting journal entries to ensure financial statements accurately reflect operations.
  • Taking an active and leading role in coordinating accounting-related matters with Accounting / FP&A and other departments and identifying procedures to help improve company invoice processing and forecasting process.
  • Assisting management in evaluating current construction related payables processing and reporting and assist with producing written procedures on policies improvements and train affected team members.
  • Assisting with bond payment initiations and related tracking.
  • Performing complex, multi-entity tasks involving accounting data research and reconciliation.
  • Preparing various weekly and monthly financial reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or related field (Required)
  • 1 year booking accruals, reviewing financial results, and providing explanations for variances
  • 2 years a staff accountant role, preferably in a multi-entity organizational structure
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals including debits, credits and accruals
