Overview

We are seeking a enthusiastic and motivated Data Engineer to support the organisation's data transformation and reporting initiatives. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data solutions that automate business processes, improve reporting capabilities, and enhance the quality and accessibility of data across the organisation.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and maintaining our data warehouse, ETL processes, and reporting platforms, ensuring stakeholders have access to accurate, reliable, and timely information to support decision-making. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in data engineering, business intelligence, and analytics.
Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will help develop and maintain reporting solutions, support data integration processes, and contribute to projects that automate business processes and improve access to management information. You will gain hands-on experience working with SQL, Power BI, and Azure Data Factory while developing your technical and professional skills.
The successful candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, experience with SQL, Power BI, and Azure Data Factory would be advantageous. The candidate will additionally have a willingness to learn, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

Job Duties

  • Develop, maintain, and optimise complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects to support reporting and build warehouse data models.
  • Create, enhance, and support Power BI reports and dashboards, using advanced DAX measures and efficient data modelling techniques to deliver meaningful business insights.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve data pipelines and reporting processes to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain ETL and ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF), ensuring reliable and efficient data movement and transformation.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to gather reporting and data requirements and translate these into robust technical solutions.
  • Support the automation of manual processes through the development of data-driven solutions and workflow improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and increased operational efficiency through data and analytics.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation relating to data models, ETL processes, reporting solutions, and system architecture.
  • Assist with the investigation and resolution of data-related issues, providing timely support to stakeholders where required.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality solutions within agreed timescales.
  • Experience working with SQL Server and T-SQL.
  • Experience writing and optimising complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining data warehouse solutions and data models.
  • Strong Power BI development experience, including dashboard creation, report development, and performance optimisation.
  • Advanced knowledge of DAX and Power BI data modelling techniques.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and supporting ETL/ELT processes.
  • Experience using Azure Data Factory to build and manage data integration pipelines.
  • Experience using Python for data transformation, automation, and analysis.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
  • Experience working within a business intelligence, analytics, or data engineering function.
