Job Summary

The Pro Shop Supervisor runs the day-to-day sales, marketing, and customer service operations of the pro shop and golf course, as well as the golf tournament program. They represent the golf course and the community to our membership holders, outside golfers, groups, associations, clubs, and area communities. Also, they work closely with the General Manager & Activities Manager on all golfing related issues.

Job Duties

  • Markets memberships within the resort as well as to golfers of other area communities, resorts, clubs, organizations, associations, and daily fee players. (Essential)
  • Contacts various clubs, organizations, associations, area communities, and individuals regarding membership availability, tournaments and special rates our resort is offering. (Essential)
  • Prepares comparison studies with other area courses annually to gather information on upkeep of courses, maintenance standards, course playability, and any other factors that impact the golf on the course. (Essential)
  • Works with the Activities Department to coordinate special events for golfers (i.e. weekly groups, men's, women's & mixed league events, "Nine & Dines", merchandise shows, "Welcome Back" or "See you Next Year!" tournaments). (Essential)
  • Supervises the daily condition, appearance and maintenance of the cart bar, pro shop, and rental carts. Ensures rental carts are cleaned, charged and stored properly. (Essential)
  • Enforces the rules of the resort and arbitrates golf rules per the USGA rule book. (Essential)
  • Coordinates team member selection and development and ensures team members comply with appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Establishes budget targets in conjunction with General Manager for Pro Shop revenue as well as daily play (green/cart fees).
  • Stays current on pricing of other courses (daily play rates, specials, membership rates, etc.).
  • Solicits, coordinates, and schedules tee times for tournaments, memberships, and special functions. Assists club members in scheduling and running tournaments as needed.
  • Assists golfers in familiarizing themselves with our facility.
  • Assists golfers in posting scores.
  • Reports/transmits scores to PGA as appropriate.
  • Tracks number of rounds played daily, weekly, and monthly by membership.
  • Handles and resolves golfers' complaints, inquiries, and issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Prices merchandise competitively, and displays merchandise attractively.
  • Sells merchandise; orders merchandise as needed, ensuring to stay within budgetary guidelines.
  • Coordinates sales events (i.e. end-of-season sales, holiday related sales, etc.).
  • Markets and prepares special orders for members and residents. Ensures catalogues are available and prominently displayed.
  • Reports all golf course and pro shop maintenance issues and concerns directly to the Facilities Director and/or maintenance & facilities teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • 6 months in of previous merchandising and/or sales experience (Preferred)
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to work well independently as well as on a team
  • Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email and the internet
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities
